E.LETTER 1
European Transfert of Apprenticeship and Methodologies in Ecoconstruction. Néopolis (Chambre of Commerce and Industry of Drôme) is developping in the frame of the LEONARDO programme a new project called « TEAM ECOCONSTRUCTION ».
Which aims to:
- Provide support in the development of builders’ skills in ecological construction
- Implement a transnational network of resource centres organised under a charter
The first transnational meeting took place from the 22nd to the 25 October 2008
in NEOPOLIS – VALENCE (FR)
Project partnership:
- ENERGIEINSTITUT of VORARLBERG (AT)
- Cluster Eco-construction (BE)

The building Training Institute of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Versailles is joining the team to follow the project and cater the needs of the professionals in Paris region.
They are in the partnership but with their own funds, the person in charge of ‘sustainable development’ will take part to all activities of the project.
State of the art:
The project TEAM ECOCONSTRUCTION fills the gaps in the training offer for professionals from the building industry with a special focus on eco-construction as it is undergoing a radical transformation in the required skills regarding today’s energy issues. The 4 Europeans directives on construction materials, energy efficiency in buildings, eco-conception and energy sources are underlying a shift and a European harmonization in the skills and knowledge of stakeholders from the building industry. The building industry takes an important share in European employment: 7% or 26 millions workers.
Expected results
1 - Formulation of a transnational curriculum listing skills and certifications required to qualify as a “technician in ecoconstruction”, at the end of the project the curriculum can be divided into qualifying training modules for job seekers, in each partner country and organisation. The curriculum id dedicated to technicians in ecoconstruction (managers and highly skilled workers).

2 - Implementation of a pilot action dedicated to workers from building companies willing to shift from conventional techniques to ecoconstruction.

3 –Creation of an e-learning platform with online training and evaluation materials to acquire knowledge, supported by special mentoring.
Expected impact:
- improve the skills of workers in the field of ecoconstruction,
- provide training and qualifying course to job seeker,
- ensure better access to skilled workers for employers
- foster links with workers and provide them the opportunity to improve their skills and validate their new competences
- provide training materials thanks to the transnational network of resource centres
- offer to implement a qualification validation at the end of the project in each partner country
First transnational meeting in VALENCE 22nd -26th October 2008
This first seminar resulted in the formulation of a list of the skills required for a professional qualifying as a « technician in eco-construction ». The task of each partner is now to divide the skills into knowledge and know-how and define the evaluation process to further develop the content of the training modules.
Next meeting is planned in May 2009 to build up the curriculum and organise the training modules to be posted online.
